About the project :

The application allows you to create a board with your favorite articles and share them with the team. Team members can comment and highlight relevant information on these boards without leaving the platform Chronicle saves you from copying and pasting links between different apps or platforms. Overall, it ensures a smooth work process without adding extra steps.

Achieving challenges

Before we began work on the project, the Cronycle platform consisted of several Heroku-based applications to parse content from websites without APIs.

The system data was stored on Amazon S3 while the database was hosted on Amazon RDS From a financial perspective, these third-party cloud platforms were quite expensive, for example, the US-based retail giant charged $10k per month for their services.

The third-party platform Embedly, which Cronycle also uses to aggregate content, also charges a few cents per URL it processes. Since more and more people started using Cronycle, the number of URLs was often well over hundreds of thousands.

The result

With a micro-service architecture, we created a large, complex, and independent content-aggregation platform to facilitate the discovery and organization of relevant content for all types of users.
